Bono Heckles Ugandan Journalist

Was he drunk?

Bono, who is often thought of as an unofficial ambassador to Africa, pulled a move that was just a bit undiplomatic. The incident occurred at the TED conference being held in rural Tanzania. That unusual location for the Technology, Entertainment and Design conference was chosen at Bono’s urging, obviously to further shine the spotlight on the poverty stricken nations of Africa.

The TED conferences have a sort of mythic status among people who were New Media types in the 1990’s, and they are still attracting a lot of important academics, artists, business people and other fancy lads with the cash to get in. I’m not really sure anything that great has come of these conferences, but you can read about this one and Bono's heckling in this short article at MIT Technology Review:
